Our town of Temuka was once known by local Māori as “The Place of the Hot Ovens”, or Te-umu-kaha, as they used huge earthen ovens bake the roots of the cabbage tree. We are known world-wide for our iconic Temuka pottery, but our small township has plenty more to offer.

Walk the tracks
Work up an appetite walking the tracks in Temuka. The Little Kiwi Trail is great for kids, Allan Jones Walkway is a nice track around the Domain and Tuamatakahu Stream Reserve is a lovely walk along the stream. Check out all of the trails in Temuka here.
